Plakias Walk 3
This walk offers great views over Plakias while walking up to Myrthios and for the first part along the irrigation canal. Further on the path you will be treated with views of Mount Kouroupa on your left and the valley east of Plakias on your right. When you get closer to Lefkogeia you have a perfect view of the monolith Timios Stavros with the small church on top and the mountains to the left of it.
The canals are the main irrigation system for all the olive groves you will pass.
The walk is besides the first steep 700 meters as good as Cretan flat.
There is an optional small d-tour that takes you to the Koules of Plakias (ruins of an Ottoman fortlet), with amazing views towards Plakias Bay!
You can take the bus back to Plakias or call a taxi in one of tavernas in Lefkogeia. Click on the KTEL logo for the latest up to date bus timetables (choose departure from Rethymno) and check both Rethymno-Plakias and Preveli-Plakias. If you are not too tired yet you can walk back along 5 different beaches (walk 1).

Walk 6 and 7 also connect with this walk.
