Mariou is situated north west of Plakias, just 1,5km east of Myrthios, on the slopes of Mount Kouroupa. The village still has a very authentic feel and the views from 190 meters above sea level towards Plakias Bay are fabulous. At the east end of the village, along the main road, is a picturesque little chapel built against the rocks.
