This Ottoman castle is sort of a hidden gem for castle afficionados, you really have to know it's there. It was built after 1866 by the Ottoman Turks to confront and control the Cretan revolutionaries. It is situated on a hill between the village of Koxare and Mount Kouroupa. The ruins have never been renovated but there is enough left for your imagination!
